Visibility radius: choose how far your event shows

When you create a public event, you can now decide exactly how wide a net you want to cast. Anything from a handful of neighbours on your block to the whole country — your call.

How to use it

When you create or edit a public event, you'll see a slider for visibility radius. Drag between 1 km and 100 km, or all the way to the end for unlimited — at which point your event shows up for every Buddy regardless of distance.

The distance is measured from the event location. A Buddy within the radius sees your event in their feed if they also match your age range. Anyone outside doesn't see it.

What each setting is good for

5 km — local stuff

After-work in the neighbourhood, a run from the park, Friday brunch at the café around the corner. People who don't have to travel far to make it.

30 km — the weekend activity

An MTB ride in an area between two towns, a hike in the nature reserve, a football game on a pitch a bit outside town. Far enough that the right people will come, close enough that nobody has to plan their day around it.

Unlimited — the bigger event

A festival, a conference, a weekend in the mountains. The kind of thing people are willing to travel for. Or simply: when you want as many as possible to see the event, regardless of where they live.

Why it matters

A public event that's visible to the wrong people attracts the wrong sign-ups. Set the radius too wide and you'll get people who pull out once they realise the distance. Set it too narrow and you'll miss the Buddies who genuinely would have joined.

Being able to calibrate the radius to the nature of the event means the right people see the right events. That's better for you as a host, and better for the people discovering events in their feed.
