Privacy Policy for Buddies

1. Introduction
This privacy policy describes how Buddies ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use our mobile application Buddies ("the App").

2. Data Controller
Fredrik Oredsson is the data controller for the processing of your personal data. For questions about how we handle your data, contact us at info@buddiesapp.se.
3. What Data We Collect
3.1 Data you provide
- Account data: First name, last name, email address, birth year
- Gender: Self-declaration ("I am male") to apply the service's target group. This information is not used to draw conclusions about you.
- Profile data: Profile picture, description ("About me"), languages
- Location data: GPS position (if you grant permission) and approximate location (city/area) to show events near you and calculate distances. You can use the App without sharing location, but distances to events will not be shown.
- Event data: Events you create or participate in
- Communications: Chat messages within events, reports, support inquiries
3.2 Data we collect automatically
- Technical data: Device type, operating system, app version
- Usage data: Which features you use
- Push tokens: To send notifications
3.3 Data from third parties
- Apple/Google: When signing in via Apple Sign In or Google Sign In, we receive an identifier and the email address you choose to share. Apple may provide a hidden relay address.

5. How Long We Keep Your Data
- Account data: As long as you have an active account
- Chat messages: Deleted 90 days after the event ends. This allows participants to follow up and enables us to handle reports.
- Event data: Deleted 14 months after the event ends. This gives you time to view your history and copy recurring events.
- Technical and security logs: Stored for up to 90 days for troubleshooting, security, and abuse prevention, then deleted.
- Support inquiries: Stored for up to 12 months after the case is closed.
- Reports and moderation cases: Stored for up to 24 months after the case is closed to prevent repeated abuse.
- Suspended accounts: If an account is suspended due to violation of our terms, we may retain certain data (e.g., email address and technical identifiers) for up to 24 months to prevent the user from creating a new account.
- Deleted account: All personal data is deleted without undue delay, no later than within 30 days. Anonymized, irreversible statistics may be retained.
6. Who Has Access to Your Data
6.1 Other users
- Your first name and last name initial (e.g., "Fredrik O")
- Your profile picture and description
- Events you participate in (visible to other participants)
6.2 Third-party providers
We have data processing agreements (DPA) in place with our providers. Our providers may use sub-processors for operations and support. We do not share personal data with third parties for advertising.

*Personal data may be processed in the USA or another country outside the EU/EEA. Transfers are made under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (where applicable) or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC), with supplementary safeguards where necessary.
We do not use Firebase Analytics, tracking, or advertising.
6.3 Authorities
We may disclose data if required by law or in case of suspected criminal activity.
7. Automated Decision-Making
We do not use automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you (Art. 22 GDPR).
8. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you object to processing based on legitimate interest, we will cease processing unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds.

We respond within 30 days.
9. Security
We protect your data through: - Encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS) - Secure storage with our providers including access controls - Access control (authorized personnel only) - Ongoing security work and review of permissions and access
10. Children
Buddies is only for persons 18 years or older. We do not knowingly collect data from persons under 18. If we discover a user is under 18, the account will be deleted.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. For material changes, we will notify you via the app and/or email in good time before the changes take effect. If changes require new consent, we will ask for it in the app.
